The Starfield Piloting Exam Tier 6 is not really meant to be cleared. To become a new recruit for the UC Vanguard, you need to pass a piloting exam in a combat simulator after learning the history of the United Colonies and Freestar Collective in an exhibit. Destroying the enemy ships in Tier 5 isn’t too difficult, but Tier 6 ramps up the difficulty by a lot, pitting you against five enemy ships that can shred through your ship’s shields and hull in seconds. As such, most players will likely only get through five waves of enemies before calling it quits. But here’s what happens if you actually manage to clear Tier 6 in the combat simulator of the Starfield Piloting Exam.
What happens if you clear the Starfield Piloting Exam Tier 6?
If you clear Tier 6 of the Starfield Piloting Exam, you’ll receive a huge signup bonus of 20000 credits and an astonished reaction from Commander John Tuala.
By comparison, if you only manage to get through Tier 5, you’ll only get 7800 credits, so the signup bonus is cut by more than half. Since you’ll likely meet John Tuala quite early in the game, since you have to visit him in one of the main story missions, the prospect of getting 20000 credits is a fantastic reward.
Tuala will also remark that it will only take you three years to reach UC citizenship for clearing Tier 6, instead of five years if you get through Tier 5. But we don’t believe this will actually impact how you gain UC citizenship in the game.
At any rate, Tuala is absolutely shocked if you manage to beat Tier 6 and notes that this accomplishment puts you in the 99th percentile of all the potential recruits who have taken the exam. If you only get through Tier 5, he comments that he thinks Tier 6 essentially cheats even though the developers of the simulations say otherwise.
