Baldur’s Gate 3 Day One Patch Notes for Today, August 3

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Day One patch notes for today, August 3, reveal a list of fixes that Larian Studios has made on launch day. In particular, the developer will address controller support for the PC Steam version of the game, in preparation for its release on PlayStation 5 in September. The list of known issues below was shared by Larian Studios with us on the changes it has made since the press build of BG3 to the release day version. Here are the launch day patch notes for Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 patch notes for Day One

Below are the Baldur’s Gate 3 patch notes for Day One, with the game’s known issues that will be fixed on launch day listed below:

General Known Issues

  • If a character has no minimum-level spell slots left for a spell with a submenu, like Chromatic Orb, they cannot cast the spell using a higher level spell slot.
  • On non-standard resolutions below 1080p, the ‘Send To’ option in the context menu only shows 2 party members — the third one is cut off. Steam Deck also has this issue.
  • Loading from Character Creation screen into the game takes significantly more time when starting a new campaign as Origin character.
  • Mistress of Souls uses lever to close the gates but the gate remains visually open.
  • Very rarely, a dialog does not end when it should. Saving/reloading fixes this.
  • When taking ladder to Underdark from Goblin Camp while in Wild Shape, cinematic fails to trigger.
  • In character creation in Multiplayer using a controller, you need to press ‘Venture Forth’ twice in order to get to the “Ready” screen.

Controller-Specific Known Issues

  • In character creation in Multiplayer using a controller, returning from “Ready” screen to character creation makes some options unchangeable and shows the chosen guardian instead of the playable character.
  • Xbox controller keybindings for Left Stick and D-pad functions are incorrect (mixed up)

Splitscreen-Specific Known Issues

  • Crash when unplugging controller while in split screen
  • Splitscreen broken for DLSS and FSR
  • When playing in splitscreen with one character is in the inventory, the stack order of the characters will
  • rearrange if the other player either changes character or opens the character sheet.

Crashes Known Issues

  • Teleporting to a Waypoint while overlooking the Goblin Camp will sometimes cause a crash

These patch notes are likely a partial list, but we’ll update it if Larian Studios releases the full patch notes.

Larian Studios has also revealed that they plan on making post-launch updates. This includes improving cloud and save game performance when the player has a lot of saves, and an issue with the character getting stuck in the next dialogue option if they skip through dialogue too fast. Larian Studios also plans on improving controller support on PC through the post-launch update.

It will also crashes related to the game not saving properly, “device lost” crashes on Steam during character creation, and splitscreen not working properly at camp if the player chooses the Dark Urge background.

The dragonborn race and monk class will be new content for Baldur’s Gate 3 at launch day. It’s still uncertain when the game will launch on Xbox consoles or not.
