Nintendo Boss Takes Pay Cut in Wake of Poor 3DS Sales

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told investors in Tokyo today, that he feels "heavily responsible" for the poor 3DS sales that forced a price drop just six months on the market. He further explained that to offset financial losses expected throughout the fiscal year, he is going to take a 50% cut in his salary. Other Nintendo execs will take a 30% or 20% cut.

Don't feel too bad, he's obviously not crying poverty if he's willing to offer up 50% of his pay. He'll still make over a million a year

I have to admit, though, it's nice to see an executive take a pay cut when his company is facing crisis. Here in America, execs lay off half of the company, cut benefits, but still give themselves a yearly bonus and pay hike.

You hear that America? Take note of Iwata. That means you too, Reggie.
