Nintendo President Gets Approval Rating Boost

Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata has had a rough couple of years. Thanks to a slow start for 3DS and then Wii U, the exec has failed to recapture to insane success the company saw last generation with Wii and DS. As such, his approval rating saw a significant dip last year to 77.26%.

Fortunately, with the new life that Mario Kart 8's release has brought to Nintendo's struggling console and 3DS's continued success, Mr. Iwata has seen a 3.38% boost in his approval rating to 80.64%. If Super Smash Bros. for Wii U can move units like the Big N hopes, there's a chance we'll only see that number increase next year.

This news comes shortly after the announcement that Iwata has been re-elected president of Nintendo. There's a lot riding on him, as his vision for the future of the company will be taking some bold new steps forward into the toy business with amiibo as well as the health realm with a new quality of life platform. Here's to hoping the Big N can (and will) deliver.
