Ubisoft has announced registration for the Rainbow Six Mobile alpha, a mobile version of its popular Rainbow Six Siege series. Developed by an independent team in Ubisoft Montreal for about three years behind the scenes, Rainbow Six Mobile will bring the familiar competitive and tactical 5v5 gameplay pitting attackers against defenders.
How to sign up for the Rainbow Six Mobile alpha
You can sign up for the Rainbow Six Mobile alpha, for Android and iOS platforms, by heading over to the official website and scrolling all the way down the page. The developers are planning a series of live tests to get plenty of fan feedback.
Rainbow Six Mobile pits a team of attackers against a team of defenders. The attacking side must disarm traps, free hostages, and breach walls, while the defending side needs to trap the attackers, protect the objective, and reinforce walls. There are currently five named characters for each side, but more heroes will become available as the game continues to progress.
When the mobile game arrives on the scene, it will have two maps: a fortified bank with many small rooms that defenders can reinforce easily, and a more open but more destructible border outpost in a mountain region embedded between two countries. More maps will also be added in future updates.
The developers want to ensure that players should expect a fantastic translation of Siege’s gameplay in mobile form, in a blog post on the official website:
“While the core gameplay, characters, and maps may share similarities with Siege, we’ve rebuilt everything from the ground up with mobile usability in mind… This includes an entirely new gameplay control system specifically for mobile and extensive optimization of the UI and in-game visual presentation.”
In other news, The Witcher Season 3 has started filming with Henry Cavill returning as Geralt of Rivia, and Return to Monkey Island has been surprisingly announced by the series’ creators.
