Nintendo 64 Switch games are here and fans aren’t happy

The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack N64 games are here at last, meaning that finally Switch owners can finally play some of the most requested games for the service. However, what should’ve been a good day for Nintendo fans has turned to heartache as the likes of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Starfox 64, and Super Mario 64 are marred by major issues — such as lag, bugs, and just plain bad emulation of these Nintendo Switch Online N64 games.

What is wrong with the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack N64 games?

The Nintendo 64 games in the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack are out now, but players across social media have reported many serious issues with the titles — including many problems that weren’t present in other re-releases of these titles, such as in the recent Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection.

For starters, players have produced numerous lag issues with Nintendo Switch Online’s N64 games. The online multiplayer side is almost understandable as so many players are attempting to play it, but input lag in single-player games is far less forgivable.

Players have also spotted numerous emulation issues that bring to mind the infamous Silent Hill HD collection, such as one particularly terrible-looking room in Ocarina of Time’s Water Temple.

Finally, there are plenty of major bugs too, which may not have been present in any previous re-releases of these games.

Hopefully Nintendo is watching and will actually sort these issues out quickly, especially with players having to pay a premium for them.

It’s certainly not the only problem that Nintendo Switch owners are having to sort out. Here’s a possible fix for the new Nintendo Switch OLED’s troublesome burn-in issue, and here’s how to sort out transferring data, redownloading games, and retrieving any save data when buying the OLED. Finally, here’s our review of the Nintendo Switch OLED console and whether it’s worth the upgrade.
