Batwoman star Ruby Rose ‘did not quit,’ alleges mistreatment on set

Former Batwoman Ruby Rose has released allegations against various members of the team, also claiming that she “did not quit” the show. The former Batwoman lead, who played Kate Kane and left after the first season, calls out specific people in the CW and WBTV for the way they “abused” cast and crew — as well as allowing multiple terrible accidents on set, including to Rose herself, which she says she was not allowed time to recover from.

Ruby Rose has posted a number of allegations on her Instagram stories page that detail why she left the role of Kate Kane Batwoman after just one season, including the claim that she “did not quit” the show voluntarily — although she adds she would not “return to that awful show… for any amount of money.” She specifically names former WBTV head Peter Roth, showrunner Caroline Dries, and even co-stars Dougray Scott (Jacob Kane) and Camrus Johnson (Luke Fox).

Ruby Rose alleges that Peter Roth forced her to work just ten days after neck surgery nearly left her paralyzed in September 2019, threatening that “the whole cast and crew would be fired” and she would be the one blamed. She says that Caroline Dries refused to shut down the production for the pandemic until the government forced them — which Rose says was the reason for so many on-set accidents, including her own, a stunt double who had “third-degree burns over his whole body,” and an incident where a production assistant was left paralyzed and was forced to start a GoFundMe for her medical bills. Rose also says that co-star Dougray Scott “abused women” and the production refused to stop him from yelling at people.

As of right now, there has been no official comment from the CW or anyone named in Rose’s allegations. Batwoman Season 3 just started last week with new star Javicia Leslie.
