Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut gives players the chance to get God of War armor, which puts a samurai spin on Kratos’ iconic character design. It can be found by visiting the Shrine of Ash on Iki Island and solving a riddle. However, this can be frustrating because the puzzle players find at the statue is pretty cryptic as to what they need to do to unlock the armor.
How to solve the Shrine of Ash puzzle in Ghost of Tsushima and get the God of War armor
To get the God of War armor in Ghost of Tsushima, players must first find the Shrine of Ash. This place is located in the Yahata Forest region. It’s almost due north from the archery challenge on a cliff overlooking a body of water.
When players explore the shrine, they’ll find the only clue they’ll get to solve the puzzle, a poem:
“Tanka, Covered in Ash
In fall, a tree fruits
which grows from seed to sapling,
a stranger and son.
Boy, honor your father’s fight.
Show him the strength of your blade.”
This poem is referring to God of War, but what do we need to do to solve the puzzle? The first half of the verse can be ignored, as like with the Shrine in Shadow puzzle, the solution to this riddle is contained in the last two lines.
Players will have to equip a specific armor and perform a particular action to obtain the God of War armor. In this case, the poem is referring to the Sakai Clan Armor. However, it also wants the player to “show the strength of their blade.”
So the solution to the Shrine in Shadow puzzle in Ghost of Tsushima is:
- Equip the Sakai Clan Armor.
- Stand near the statue.
- Draw Jin’s sword.
If done correctly, a small scene will play, and Jin will be equipped the Spartan Mask, the Ghost of Sparta shader for the Sakai Clan Armor, and the Helm of War.
