Infamous Pirates Drink, Fight, And Set Sail In Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag hopes to be the ultimate pirate simulator, the kind of game where your thirst for plunder can lead you anywhere, from ship-to-shore seamlessly, without loading or cutscenes. Edward Kenway voice actor Matt Ryan has the low-down on the other pirates you'll be running with in your adventures above.

There's your first mate who looks to play a heavy role in the game's narrative, as well as Blackbeard, Charles Vane, Benjamin Hornigold, and even more. If this is the future of Assassin's Creed, essentially turning the open-world lens on different historical times where Ubisoft can bring to life mythic historical figures… then that's OK by me.

We got our hands on Ubisoft's PS4 version of Assassin's Creed IV at PAX Prime and will have more from our interview time there as we near release at the end of October. The current-gen version of Black Flag will be on store shelves October 29th, while the PS4 and Xbox One versions will be available alongside those consoles at launch.
