Escape from Tarkov, the tactical shooter developed by Russian studio Battlestate Games, saw a bump in popularity at the beginning of 2020 thanks to a particularly successful Twitch Drops campaign around New Year’s. This means more people than ever are looking to get into the hardcore game, so that leaves console players wondering: Is Escape from Tarkov on PS4? Is Escape from Tarkov coming to consoles?
Currently, Escape from Tarkov is only available on PC. While the game has not yet officially released, players can get access to the closed beta by pre-ordering Escape from Tarkov on the game’s website. Pre-orders are currently discounted at the time of writing, available with various packages of in-game goods for as low as $33.74.

As for an official Escape from Tarkov PS4 release date, Battlestate Games does not appear to have any plans to bring the game over to home consoles. According to Wccftech, a Battlestate Games FAQ way back in 2015 said the developer was considering a console version, but there hasn’t been any news since. Fans have petitioned to bring the game to consoles and even found a PS4 console in-game, but neither of these seem to have meant anything in the long run.
While the Xbox Series X and PS5’s enhanced specs could help something like Escape from Tarkov come to consoles without significant performance downgrades, the game’s emphasis on complicated inventory management means a console port is unlikely even after the next-gen systems launch. If the new consoles support mouse and keyboard setups, maybe Battlestate will consider a port, but there are likely just too many systems in Escape from Tarkov for Battlestate Games to fit onto a single PlayStation or Xbox controller. YouTuber ExistentialEgg created a complicated control profile for the game on a Steam Controller in 2018, however, so if the new consoles’ controllers are anywhere close to that customization, it might be possible.
