With Epic Games and Disney previously collaborating to bring the Imperial Stormtrooper skin to battle royale behemoth Fortnite, many fans of both properties are questioning whether there could be some form of further crossover based on the upcoming movie. Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker is set to hit movie theaters around the United States on December 20th, but will there be a Fortnite x Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker event to accompany it? Here’s what you need to know.
Will there be a Fortnite x Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker event?
Speculation regarding a potential Fortnite x The Rise of Skywalker event has been circulating online, largely thanks to some (unofficial) Fortnite news sources wondering aloud.
As an example, Fortnite News tweeted:

There is a reason to speculate, however. As previously mentioned, Fortnite and Star Wars have crossed over in the past — just last month with the introduction of the iconic Stormtrooper outfit, in fact. There’s an existing working relationship between the teams, plus Fortnite has a tendency to partner with big movie releases and pop culture events. The launch of a new mainline Star Wars entry is undoubtedly both of those things.
We’ve seen Thanos join the battle in a crossover with Avengers: Endgame, eponymous action star John Wick enter the fray, and even Batman cameo alongside a slice of Gotham City and some of his greatest gadgets. Fortnite x Rise of Skywalker would be a logical next step, while also elevating Star Wars‘ involvement with the game past that of just a single skin to fall more in line with the aforementioned collaborations.
There’s been no official news on a potential Fortnite x Star Wars event just yet, but we’ll be back to update this guide as and when any announcements are made.
