Another day, another depressing news story for Wii U owners. Unfortunately, Ubisoft didn't make a profit off of ZombiU, so the publisher has no plans to move forward on a followup.
Ubi CEO Yves Guillemot told GamesIndustry that the game is so far off from being profitable that the company simply can't justify investing in a sequel. Sadly the Wii U install base just isn't where it needs to be for third-parties to want to jump on board.
In fact, ZombiU's lack of success was one of the main reasons why Rayman Legends is no longer exclusive to Wii U. "We must find a way to ensure the creativity of those games could have a big enough audience," Guillemot explained. "We hope [the Wii U] will take off. At the moment, we've said 'let's do through Christmas and see where we are from there.'"
Do you think the likes of Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D World will be enough to give Nintendo a fighting chance this holiday season? Let us know in the comments below.
