Forget the PlayStation 4. Forget the Xbox 720 or even the Steam Box. Wash all that nonsense from your mind because we've got some earth-shattering news to share with you. A new Call of Duty game will be launching in 2013!
Jokes aside, Activision announced today during their Q4 earnings call that a new entry in their predictable FPS franchise will be releasing by the end of the year. In addition, the publisher credited Skylanders, Diablo, World of Warcraft, and Call of Duty for raking in larger net revenues for 2012 than they even expected.
Activision simply cannot be stopped. The Skylanders franchise has amassed over $1 billion in sales worldwide, Diablo III has moved over 12 million copies, and World of Warcraft continues to dominate in the MMO sphere. Let's also not forget that Black Ops II sold a staggering $1 billion within its first fifteen days.
“As we look to 2013, we will continue to invest in our established franchises, as well as several new properties,” Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said.
With Bungie's Destiny on the not so distant horizon, I'm sure the mega-publisher will continue to find success in the years to come.
