Starlink PC Release Date: Is It Coming to PC?

Ubisoft’s Starlink: Battle for Atlas was announced at E3 2017 at their conference, and made a return appearance at E3 2018 to reveal its release date alongside the fun inclusion of Fox McCloud for the Nintendo Switch version. But what about a PC version? Is Starlink: Battle for Atlas coming to PC? If so, what is the Starlink PC Release Date? We’ll do our best to answer.

Is Starlink: Battle for Atlas Coming to PC and Is There a Starlink PC Release Date?

Ubisoft confirmed the Starlink: Battle for Atlas release date is October 16 on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately there has not been any mention of a PC version—let alone a release date. While it’s not unusual for console versions of games to be announced first and then come to PC later, we’re not sure if it will be the case here because that doesn’t happen with toys-to-life games.

Out of LEGO DimensionsDisney Infinity and Skylanders, the only one to come to PC was Disney Infinity, and that was in free-to-play form with most of the game stripped out, including the toy part. Either there’s something about the technology that makes it difficult on PC, or these publishers just don’t think a game like this would work on PC. Either way, no Starlink on PC. Sorry.

What is Starlink: Battle for Atlas?

As mentioned, Starlink: Battle for Atlas is a toys-to-life game, a still fairly new genre where there are physical toys you have to purchase to play with and interact with the main video game. It’s admittedly a genre we thought was dead since LEGO Dimensions closed a year ago, but then Ubisoft announced their own title for release this year.

Starlink sees a team of interstellar pilots taking on daring missions across the stars to stop the forces of the evil Grax. The toys are all spaceships and accessories, which balance on top of the control pad while playing, which seems cumbersome but apparently works quite well. The game is a mixture of combat and exploration, in space and on planets. The Switch version comes with the game’s only licensed character: Fox McCloud from Nintendo’s StarFox games. Somehow we think if Starlink: Battle for Atlas turns up on PC he won’t be coming too…
