The God of War hype train isn’t stopping anytime soon, as Santa Monica Studio promises to deliver even more patches and updates in the future, along with a new God of War Photo Mode. The latest PS4 exclusive featuring Kratos and his son, Boy/Atreus, launched barely two weeks ago and it has already received its seventh update with the 1.17 patch recently. Each update since release has only brought small tweaks and fixes but the developer confirms that future updates will have major additions.

In a Support Update Stories post on its official site, Santa Monica Studio has detailed several of the biggest features which will be arriving in upcoming updates. The most anticipated feature to be added would arguably be the Photo Mode, which will probably be similar in function to other PS4 exclusives like Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Who wouldn’t want to capture the most epic moments, or construct funny ones like giving Kratos and Atreus funny facial expressions?
God of War Future Updates: Text Size Increase
The developer gave players an option to increase text zoom in the 1.12 patch but it didn’t actually do much in making the text more readable and clear. That’s why Santa Monica Studio will introduce a global increase to text size in all menus and subtitles. These improvements would certainly go a long way in helping those who are interested in reading the game’s extensive lore.
God of War Future Updates: Additional Features
Additionally, players will soon have the option of remapping Rage Mode to other buttons on the controller. The developer is also looking into an issue where selecting the “New Game” option from the main menu without closing the application beforehand may cause missing dialogue and even block progression. Future updates will include more bug fixes and stability improvements.
Players who are hoping for DLC content or expansions might have to brace for disappointment since God of War director Cory Barlog recently said that there are currently no plans in store for future DLC story content. Although the game has been receiving glowing reviews and breaking sales records almost everywhere (especially in the UK), it’s not doing as well in Japan, where it debuted at second place in its first week with Nintendo Labo grabbing the top spot.
