The First Battlefront 2 Update of 2018 Brings Iden Versio’s TIE Fighter but Still No Major Overhaul

Star Wars Battlefront 2 got its first patch of 2018, which unfortunately doesn’t bring much to the game. Battlefront 2 update 1.1 brings a new hero unit ship, Iden Versio’s TIE Fighter makes its appearance, and there’s a new Blast mode map on the planet Crait. As far as any hint of new functionality or progression updates, we’re still left hanging.

It’s been two months since Battlefront 2 was released to massive disdain for its oppressive, microtransaction-centric progression system and we’re still no closer to getting the fixes to improve the aspects fans rebelled against. Battlefront 2 patch 1.1 does bring a host of small adjustments in addition to the new hero and map. Finn gets a nerf to his base blaster damage as well as Deadeye shots, Boba Fett gets a significant nerf to his Rocket Barrage, and Lando and Phasma get minor adjustments as well.

Iden Versio’s TIE Fighter seems like a capable unit, albeit without many decent unique abilities. She gets the use of Afterburner, Laser Barrage, and Dual Proton Torpedos, which work as they do on regular starfighters. Her unique ability is Inferno Leader, which highlights all enemies within a radius from her fighter to allied forces and increases damage dealt to them for the duration of the ability.

The new Crait map for Blast is a welcome addition, except that no one plays anything besides Starfighter Assault, Galactic Assault, and Heroes and Villains (when they want to spam for credits and XP).
