Despite being over a year old and the studio’s new hope Battlefield 5 having already released, DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront 2 is still getting big updates, and a patch the size of a small moon is coming next week. But that’s no moon, that’s the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Chosen One update, and it’s set to bring possibly the game’s final hero character, Anakin Skywalker, to the fight. In addition to this, DICE has announced that players will not only receive young Sky-walker, but they will also get a load of alternative Clone Trooper skins and, impressively, a free gift of 60,000 Credits. Most impressive.
This was revealed in the latest community transmission for Battlefront 2, which mostly discusses the variety of new Clone Trooper skins that will be available to players in next’s week big patch. What’s called the “Phase II” Clone Trooper appearances will be rare and sold for either 20,000 credits each or 500 crystals (the game’s premium currency), and will be the new skins available next week. The “Phase I” Clone Trooper variant skins will be more common and cost 5,000 credits each or 150 crystals.
However, there’s a better way to get hold of the Phase I outfits, since when the update drops all players will be granted a free “Legion Crate,” which DICE is calling a “starter kit” of Clone Trooper skins. It will include the 41st Ranger Platoon (Phase I and II) skins, and all 4 Phase I Appearances for the 41st, 91st, 104th, 212th, and 327th Legion. More importantly though, the Legion Crate will also contain a gift of 60,000 Credits.
While this gift could be used on various character skin packs, new players will almost certainly want to spend it on getting one of the locked hero or villain characters. These heroes all cost 35,000 Credits to unlock, and that includes Anakin Skywalker, who will of course be dropping in the Chosen One update. With this gift of 60,000 portions, all Battlefront 2 players will be able to immediately unlock Anakin, if they wish.
The Star Wars Battlefront 2 Chosen One update lands on February 27, which will be a day long remembered.
