Battlefield 1’s latest DLC expansion, Turning Tides, had its release date confirmed today by DICE. In Turning Tides, you’ll find a higher focus on amphibious combat, with maps focusing on marine lands and ship combat. This will be the third expansion for Battlefield 1 since its release in October 2016.
Turning Tides Release Date: When is the New Expansion Coming to Battlefield 1?
Battlefield 1 Turning Tides is coming in two waves. The first wave will release on December 11 for Premium Pass holders. This update will feature two new maps:
- Cape Helles: Cape Helles was featured in the single-player “The Runner” War Story. Likely the two teams will be the Australian or British Royal Marines and the Ottoman Empire. If the multiplayer map is anything like the War Stories level, the Royal Marines will have to start aboard a destroyer and make a landing on the beach against Ottoman defenders.
- Achi Baba: We don’t have a single-player map to compare to Achi Baba. It will once again feature the Royal Marines against the Ottoman Empire.
The two new maps will be used in a new Operation that will emulate the 1915 British assault of Gallipoli. There will also be six new firearms and two melee weapons to add to your arsenal. Players will get to command the L-Class Destroyer too, and perhaps use it to launch from in amphibious assaults.

In January 2018, the second part of Turning Tides will release. This time you’ll go to Zeebrugge and Heligoland Blight in the North Sea. Again, the Royal Marines will take the part of the allies, and get a chance to spawn on the new C-Class Airship to attack enemy positions from above.
Battlefield 1 Premium Pass owners get a two-week early access period with Turning Tides. After that, the expansion will be up for purchase as a standalone expansion.
