Shadow of War DLC Release Date and Free Content Update Announced

Shadow of War is getting a free content update soon to coincide with the release date of the first DLC. Two new modes and an enhanced photo mode will be coming with the launch of the Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion later this month. More free content will come next month, including an online version of the fighting pits.

Shadow of War DLC Release Date: When is the Season Pass Content Coming Out?

The Middle-earth: Shadow of War Expansion Pass can be bought for $39.99 and comes standard as part of the Shadow of War Gold Edition. The pass gives players access to four paid DLC which can also be purchased individually. We’ve finally got release dates on the DLC and full details on individual pricing:

Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion

Release Date: November 21

Individual Price: $14.99

Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion

Release Date: December 12

Individual Price: $14.99

Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion

Release Date: February 2018

Individual Price: $14.99

Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion

Release Date: May 2018

Individual Price: $19.99

Shadow of War Free Content Updates

In addition to the paid DLC above, everyone who owns Shadow of War will get five free content updates in the coming months. They’ll come in two waves, with the first three releasing alongside the Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion and the last two launching with the Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion.

Endless Siege

Release Date: November 21

This new mode will allow you to indefinitely defend your fortresses in gameplay similar to that in Act IV of the story.

Rebellion

Release Date: November 21

You’ll need to seek out the rebellious Ologs and Uruks in your army. Whether that means this is a separate mode or a new feature that will allow you to determine, an orc’s loyalty isn’t known.

Enhanced Photo Mode

Release Date: November 21

Photo mode is getting an update with new filters, textures, and frames, that will allow you to capture your favorite moments even better than before.

Online Fight Pits

Release Date: December 5

In the online Fight Pits, you can challenge another player’s Orc for a fight to the death. The winner will get great rewards and upgrades.

Brutal Difficulty

Release Date: December 12

This new difficulty is even harder than Nemesis, and Last Chances are disabled completely.

According to the infographic from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, there are more content plans for Shadow of War scheduled for 2018 that are yet to be announced. Regardless of the loot chest controversy that surrounded this game (which was a non-issue), it’s nice to see that it’s getting some free content, and it’s good to know that WB and Monolith are dedicated to supporting the Shadow of War into next year.
