[Update] Sadly, it looks like The Legend of Zelda for Wii U won't be making an appearance at E3 this year. Series producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed this disheartening reality in a statement on Miiverse:
As I said in the video, we would like to take this time so we can bring you a very special experience, by making the ultimate Zelda game. Since we’d like to focus on developing the game we’ve decided to not show the game at this year’s E3.
Thank you for your continued support, and I hope you’ll look forward to the game!
[Original] The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has just announced that the next entry in Nintendo's beloved action-adventure franchise won't be out in time for a 2015 release.
In a video message on Facebook, Aonuma explains that the development team has discovered "new possibilities" that it would like to explore and implement within the upcoming Wii U exclusive. In order to make the game "the best game it can possibly be," Nintendo is pushing the title's release to what we can only assume will be next year.
With the recent news of Uncharted 4's delay to 2016, this holiday season is looking a whole lot lighter as far as exclusive first-party games are concerned. What's next? Is Microsoft going to delay the release of Halo 5: Guardians? I sure hope not!
