There’s a new A Plague Tale: Innocence trailer! This latest Overview Gameplay trailer for Asobo Studio and Focus Home Interactive’s upcoming action-adventure game is all about explaining the terrifying world of a medieval France that has been stricken by the Black Plague.
The opening moments of the A Plague Tale: Innocence Overview Gameplay Trailer show a man who is about to be executed by Inquisition soldiers. Although it isn’t explicitly stated as such, it’s probably safe to assume that this is the father of Amicia and Hugo De Rune, the game’s main characters. We then see Amicia and Hugo running through an idyllic town before transitioning to the darker atmosphere of plague-ridden France that we’ve already seen. Throughout the trailer, narration tells us about the game world and its story.
Several points are highlighted throughout the trailer. The first is that Hugo won’t simply be a plot point that you have to protect; he’ll be able to help you out in several situations thanks to his ability to crawl through small spaces or be boosted up to high walls. Hugo is also being affected by some kind of illness and Amicia is hopeful that she’ll be able to find a cure in her travels.
Another point that’s emphasized is the idea of combat. Amicia is a young girl and Hugo is only five years old; neither of these two people would do well in open combat against a heavily armed and armored Inquisition soldier. That’s why you’ll have to creatively use the environment and alchemical mixes to distract or subdue your enemies. That’s not to say that they can’t fight, mind — Amicia wields a sling throughout the game and that’s a weapon that’s plenty deadly.
