The Raspberry Pi 4 release date and price have been announced! The latest entry in this line of ultra-portable computers is finally here, giving everyone from dabbling enthusiasts to hardcore tech geeks a brand new toy to play with. Prices will range from $35–$55 depending on how much RAM you’d like to have on your Raspberry Pi 4. The brand new Raspberry Pi 4 comes equipped with a 1.5 GHz quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A72 CPU, gigabit ethernet, and a boatload of other features packed into a seriously small form factor. Here’s what you can get with your Raspberry Pi 4:

  • A 1.5GHz quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A72 CPU (~3× performance)
  • 1GB / 2GB / 4GB of LPDDR4 SDRAM (depending on model)
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • Dual-band 802.11ac wireless networking
  • Bluetooth 5.0

Raspberry Pi 4 Release Date | Why is it out earlier than expected?

Raspberry PI 4 release date

Originally, the Raspberry Pi 4 release date was anticipated to be sometime in 2020. Amazingly, things have gone so well that they’ve been able to shave several months off of their productions schedule. Here’s the technical nitty-gritty that explains things, straight from the news post announcing the sale of this new computer:

In the past, we’ve indicated 2020 as a likely introduction date for Raspberry Pi 4. We budgeted time for four silicon revisions of BCM2711 (A0, B0, C0, and C1); in comparison, we ship BCM2835C2 (the fifth revision of that design) on Raspberry Pi 1 and Zero.

Fortunately, 2711B0 has turned out to be production-ready, which has taken roughly 9–12 months out of the schedule.

You can pick up your very own Raspberry Pi 4 right now from the company’s list of approved resellers or directly from the Raspberry Pi Store for $35—$55, depending on how much RAM you’d like to have. Check out the YouTube Trailer for the Raspberry Pi 4 to get a good look at this cool new tech!
