In this November 5 edition of Retro Ad Replay, we’re heading back 12 years in time to when Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare launched. November 5, 2007 was the fateful day, with the game releasing on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. The popularity of CoD 4 led to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Reflex Edition launching on Wii in 2009.

The Call of Duty 4 single-player and multiplayer offerings each set new benchmarks for future shooters to go up against. The campaign told a blockbuster story with many iconic missions, while the multiplayer revolutionized the shooter genre with smooth 60 FPS gameplay, RPG-like level-ups and character upgrades, as well as a slew of great maps and modes. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered brought the game to current-gen systems in 2016, updating the visuals and implementing more character customization options.
