The GameRevolution team has been playing a bunch of different games this week, with myself and Mack Ashworth both diving into different loot shooters in the form of The Division 2 and Borderlands 2, while Bradley has dipped his toes into the Devil May Cry 5 waters for the first time. As always, Michael has been bunkering down and impatiently awaiting the release of Mortal Kombat 11, while Jason has gone old-school with the classic 1989 RPG Phantasy Star 2.
Let us know what games YOU have been playing this week in the comments section below!
Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “I’ve been playing The Division 2 and Risk of Rain 2. I haven’t progressed particularly far in either, but I’m liking what I’ve played on both so far. The Division 2‘s gunfire is satisfying and I’m looking forward to diving into all of that sweet loot, while Jason and I streamed Risk of Rain 2 on Twitch and had a grand old time with it.”
Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “I’m currently playing Phantasy Star 2. I’ve never played through the series, and I want to give it a shot in-between new releases. It’s fun, but damn you have to grind so much even early on it’s ridiculous. It’s also one of those old school games that doesn’t tell you stuff like the second party member you have at the beginning of the game doesn’t start with a weapon and you have to buy one and equip it before they can attack. I spent about an hour fighting solo with the one guy before I realized Nei can do more than heal.”
Mack Ashworth, lead editor: “I’m playing Borderlands 2 as the ridiculous Mechromancer, Gaige. I never experienced the DLCs, so I’m prepping for Borderlands 3’s release with a full replay of this top-class loot shooter.”
Bradley Russell, news editor: I’m playing through DMC 5 right now. It lacks a little of the finesse and charm of, say, Bayonetta (am I supposed to like any of these characters?) and V’s combat is giving me RSI, but it’s a whole lot of fun. I’d definitely recommend, even if you’re not a fan of the series, and it makes a change from getting my ass well and truly kicked day after day by Sekiro.
Michael Leri, features editor: “After hitting the 100-hour mark in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and finally getting my platinum trophy, I have moved on (for now). And with that weight lifted off my shoulders, I randomly started Heavy Rain on PS4, which has a ton of The Room-like qualities that I didn’t catch the first time around. To be honest, I’m just spinning my wheels until Mortal Kombat 11 releases.”
