Five Games With Lessons For Your Victory Dance

When it comes to winning, sometimes you have to let the scoreboard do the talking. If the score board also features your chosen character doing a dance while the other player's character looks on somberly, then even better! Here are five games that make winning awesome, and five ways you can learn from these fighters to craft your own victory dance:

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition

Watch as Cammy backflips, as Ryu punches the camera, or as Sakura jumps around. Street Fighter IV is all about dominating your opponent in hand-to-hand combat. Of course you could use your feet, or super powers like the Hadouken while you're at it.

My favorite is easily Yun, who takes off on his skateboard as soon as the fight's over. "Sorry dude, gotta go hang with the Ninja Turtles! Heard they just repaved the sewer… Cowabunga!" It's important to stick around long enough for your own victory dance though, so remember to catch the reaction on your opponent's face.

Dissidia 012

Even PSP players with a penchant for Square Enix's Final Fantasy series have to exert their dominance once in a while. This time, that takes the form of fighting game Dissidia 012[Duodecim] Final Fantasy. The normally stoic and emotionally reserved characters of the Final Fantasy universe put on their sunday best and start beating the snot out of each other.

You can see above that many of the characters just stare intensely off into the distance. What could they be thinking as they reflect on the previous battle? Victory dances are partly about intimidating your next opponent, but when that big black-armored knight just looks at his hand, he's kind of undoing all the fear his armor originally put into his opponent. Remember to at least make a fist, kids.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 features special victory moves for certain teams. Some of them are pretty badass, especially when a fighter throws his best roundhouse punches and kicks at the defeated team. Others are just a little strange… like when Jin and Kazuya decide to punch each other in the face as hard as they can.

The real losers here? Paul and Marshall as they raise their arms in unison as a symbol of undying dominance and bromance. Or is it just bromance? The Tekken characters are some of the toughest brawlers in the fighting genre, but the important thing to remember is that if you're teamed up with another burly dude, don't hold hands in your victory dance. Even a few practice punches won't undo that, Paul.

Mortal Kombat

Netherrealm's long-running fighting series has seen its fair share of brutal victory moves. Who can forget the dismembering, exploding, burning, and blood-letting from the franchise's signature fatalities? Pulling a guy's head and spinal chord clean off will stick with you, but what about the victory moves in-between matches?

Watch as Ermac delicately plucks a soul out of thin air before crushing it with his fingers. Kitana decides to toss her bladed fans into the air to signify victory. Johnny Cage mugs for the camera while Mileena asks "Was it good for you?" A victory dance doesn't have to be complicated. It just has to be unique.

CTR: Crash Team Racing

You don't have to be playing a fighting game to have an awesome victory move. Naughty Dog and Crash Bandicoot prove that in the CTR's winner's circle. Just let the accolades wash over your like confetti and champagne. Listen to the roar of the crowd and the groans of the competition.

Sure, you could throw a few "suck-its" in like Crash does, but sometimes a bit of subtlety goes a long way. Don't be like Coco Bandicoot who looks at her watch like she's got something better to do, but your victory dance, pose, lap, move should also leave room for you to enjoy the sweetest reward of all: knowing that you're better than your friends.
