Top 10 Best Games Of 2016 Roundup

GameRevolution will soon share its top games of 2016, but for now we've decided to look at what everyone else is voting for. Using lists from around the web, we've created a scorecard below indicating the most mentioned games.

Note that we will be monitoring for more lists as they are published and will continually update this page.

The format is as follows:

  • For the #1 spot, a game will receive 3 points.
  • For the #2 spot, a game will receive 2 points.
  • For spots 3-10, or for being mentioned on an unranked list, a game will receive 1 point.

Ties will be broken based on number of top spots, or second places.

With 52 lists counted, it seems Overwatch will run away with the consensus game of the year. It turned out to be quite the unwieldy beast, in terms of year-end lists. See the full breakdown below:

Lists included: Time Magazine, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Verge, CNET, BGR.com, Paste Magazine, The Indiana Statesman, The Ringer, The Janesville Gazette, Mirror, News Everyday, Gamepur, The Verge, NZGamer (8 lists), PC Gamer, Mashable, University Herald, iTech Post, Entertainment Weekly, CraveOnline, GQ, Reno Gazette Journal, The Iris, International Business Times, Cultured Vultures, WhatCulture, Gamespot, Auburn Public Journal, The Tech 52, Gamasutra (8 lists), The Sydney Morning Herald, News.com.au, The Irish Examiner, One Angry Gamer, The Koalition, The New Atlas, Computer World.
