Rockstar's tease of what is undoubtedly a new release in the Red Dead Redemption series has spawned a wave of speculation and hype. Is it a prequel? A sequel? Both? Neither?

I'm sure this is exactly what Rockstar wanted – to whet our appetites until the opportune moment comes to make a full announcement.
