Buy, Try, Die: August 2015 Release List

August is convention mayhem, what with gamescom in Germany and PAX Prime about to start at the end of the month. So publishers are far too occupied with advertising their games to release any of them, though the end of the month would seem to be the start of the official holiday season. (It just gets longer and longer.)

For this first week of August, we've got Microsoft knocking on our door with Rare Replay, a fantastic collection of hits from Rare which I hope spurs the developer to create something awesome and original for modern times (eventually).

The following week stars the indie Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, a game that is still confusing even with the 2-minute launch trailer. Really, I think you'll just be walking through a suburban town with no one around and trying to escape before the collapse of the world.

The back half of the month is where the excitement is, though, with Shadowrun: Hong Kong (which earned $1.2 million on Kickstarter), the Cabin in the Woods-esque Until Dawn exclusive to PS4, the annualized release of Madden NFL 16, and the Ultimate Edition remaster of Gears of War which comes with all four original GoW titles too. And Devil's Third is finally arriving on Wii U… pretty much everywhere except for United States.
