Newly Leaked Steam Controller Design Features D-Pad

According to a leaked design document from the Steam Client Beta (courtesy of ValveTime), Valve has once again made a few modifications to its upcoming Steam controller.

Now the device will apparently feature a D-pad. Whether or not this effectively replaces the circle-shaped track pad on the left remains to be seen, but based on the new image below, that appears to be the case.

What do you think of the addition of a D-pad to the Steam controller? A worthwhile change? I'm sure there are plenty of gamers out there that will make use of that cross-shaped button, especially fighting game fans.
