Helldivers 2 Update 1.000.400 Patch Notes Details Balance Changes & Fixes

Although the hype has slowed down a bit, Helldivers 2 is still going strong with thousands of players engaged. Those who are about to log into the game today will notice a new update, which comes with plenty of changes, including some balancing improvements.

Johan Pilestedt explains all

The Helldivers 2 update – patch 1.000.400 – is quite a hefty one by the looks of it. In fact, there’s so much going on that developer Arrowhead Game Studios‘ CCO has offered an in-depth explanation on what fans can expect in the latest version.

You can read the full patch notes on the official Steam page, which outlines exactly what changes have been implemented.

Chief among them are the aforementioned balancing tweaks. The team says they decided to “buff up some of the weaker stratagems to make them more viable and add more possibility for variety in the loadouts.” You can see a lot of increasing and decreasing of buffs and mechanics of weapons.

The new update also adds some general changes to the game, such as making it so Super Samples “now spawn on difficulty 6” and enemies “in melee range of the gates in the Evacuate High-Value Assets mission will now attack it more consistently.” On the whole, version 1.000.400 has a lot going for it.

In a separate post on Steam, Chief Creative Officer Johan Pilestedt wanted to personally explain what the update is about. You can read the post here, but in short, he reiterates what the team intends with this patch. There then follows a more detailed explanation of the changes.

Despite how popular it’s been since releasing in February – and the latest Helldivers 2 update keeping things ticking over nicely – the Sony owned game suffered a setback recently.

Back in May, it was announced that the game would go back to requiring a PSN account in order to play, even on PC. This ultimately did not go down well, which resulted in the publisher going back on the plan. As of now, Helldivers 2 is showing as “Mostly Positive” on Steam, though it was regarded much more favorably before the controversy.
