Fallout 76 Player Count Achieves Peak Concurrent Number on Steam

Although generally regarded as one of the weaker entries in the series, Fallout 76 has managed to turn a corner over the years. These days, the game is considered to be in pretty decent shape, evidenced by the fact that it recently hit a new concurrent player record on Steam.

No prizes for guessing what’s caused it

The latest data from SteamDB – a third-party website that tracks all things related to Valve‘s PC client – Fallout 76 hit 39,455 players in the last 24 hours. This is the most the game has ever achieved on PC, and there are likely a number of reasons behind this.

First of all, the recent success of the Amazon TV adaptation of Fallout has brought the series into the cultural conscience. Not that it ever truly left, mind, but it’s likely that the show is partly responsible for an uptick in people playing 76.

We’ve also been told that the next-gen update for Fallout 4 is just around the corner. This will give a bit of a boost to the game, allowing fans to finally play it on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S after a long time of waiting.

That Fallout 76 is currently 80% off on Steam – with other entries in the franchise also being given heavy discounts – is probably doing a bit of the heavy lifting as well.

While it had a rocky start when Bethesda released the game three years ago (almost to the day), there have been improvements over the years that have seen it become much more stable, though it still pales in comparison to some of the other installments.
