Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Release Date to Be Announced at The Game Awards

For Xbox fans who’ve been waiting to hear when Baldur’s Gate 3 will be coming to the Microsoft console, the wait is nearly over. Developer Larian Studios has said it will be announcing the release date for the port at this year’s Game Awards.

Still on track for a December launch

The news was announced on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitter account, which says the “World Premiere” will be shown at the event. It will include the “exact release date” of the Xbox version of the game.

It also looks as though you’ll get to play the game on Xbox Series X|S sometime in December, which means it’s likely aiming to launch just in time for the Christmas period.

The third installment in the celebrated Baldur’s Gate series has been out on PC since August, with a PS5 version coming soon after on September 6. Even macOS got a port, which came out on September 22, so Xbox users have likely been twiddling their thumbs since.

Hailed as one of the most critically acclaimed RPGs of this year, BG3 has received near-universal praise. Currently, Metacritic shows a score of 96 on both PC and PS5, while Steam has it down as “Overwhelmingly Positive.”

The Game Awards event will take place on December 7 (December 8 for UK viewers). While up against stiff competition from the likes of Alan Wake 2 and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been nominated for a number of awards, including Game of the Year, Best Narrative, and Best Game Direction.
