Iwata Recovers From Surgery, Now Back at Work

Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata has announced that he is feeling well enough to return to work after having undergone surgery earlier this year.

Back in June, the Nintendo exec had to go in for surgery to get a tumor removed from his bile duct. Apparently now, even though he's lost a bit of weight, Iwata is ready to return to his duties as the Big N's leading man.

With Wii U sales still failing to wow investors, here's to hoping Iwata truly is ready to hop back in the driver's seat. After all, the company is just about to launch its biggest Wii U exclusive of the year as well as its NFC-based figurine initiative.

Will the release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and amiibo be a big enough one-two-punch for Nintendo this holiday season? We'll just have to wait and see. I'm sure Mr. Iwata has his fingers crossed.
