Metal Gear Solid 3: Naked Snake creepin through the forest.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Trailer Shows First ‘In-Engine Look’

It’s hard to imagine that Metal Gear Solid 3 came out in 2004. Now, with a remake officially in development, Konami has given us a sneak peek of this fresh take on Snake Eater and its shiny new visuals.

No release date yet

The brief teaser shows the first “in-engine” look of the modern Metal Gear Solid 3, with some sweet shots of Naked Snake making his way through the jungle. It looks pretty awesome at this stage.

Sadly, there’s no release date for the remake yet. However, seeing as next year will be 20 years since the release of the original game, it would be fitting for Konami to launch it then. However, that’s just speculation on our part.

The project is being co-developed by Virtuos, a Singaporean studio that’s worked on some big names, including assisting with the Switch port of Dying Light: Premium Edition and helping out with The Callisto Protocol.

As for the MGS3 teaser trailer, the video description says the game environments have been captured in Unreal Engine 5, which the remake is also being fully made in.

With the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection now out, fans can now relive some classic stealth gaming, courtesy of the legendary Hideo Kojima. However, it should be noted that Kojima isn’t involved in the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. Many will remember when the veteran auteur left Konami prior to the release of MGS V and during the development of Silent Hills.

That aside, many will be looking forward to the revitalized Metal Gear Solid 3, especially at a time when the series in general is enjoying something of a resurgence. The upcoming remake will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
