Special Edition ‘Gold Shadow’ Xbox Controller Available to Pre-order

If you’re a fan of the color gold and Xbox accessories, you might be interested in something Microsoft is currently offering. The company is releasing a special edition “Gold Shadow” controller, which you can pre-order now.

Compatible with current and previous-gen

A recent post on Xbox Wire gives the lowdown on this upcoming control pad. As the name suggests, it’s gold in color, but it also fades into a shadowy black towards the bottom. It’s described as an “homage to Xbox One’s fan-favorite Shadow series designs.”

The post goes on to describe the accessory as an “elegant piece” that “comes with all the key features players love in our current generation of controllers.” Microsoft will be releasing it on October 17, 2023, and will be priced at $69.99 USD.

One of the interesting things about the device is that it’s compatible with the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, so it’s not just for current-gen users. It’s also meant to work on PC, as well as iOS and Android devices, including tablets.

The color alone makes it stand out, and the pad is said to boast up to 40 hours of battery life, though that will obviously depend on personal usage.

As accessories go, a new controller is pretty standard, but there are some pretty odd things out there. For example, Xbox recently announced Xbox-themed credit cards. These went live on September 21 for qualified users but will be rolling out in general come 2024.

In any case, if you have a current or previous-gen Xbox console, the new special edition “Gold Shadow” controller is something to look forward to.
