Starfield: A spaceship flying towards a dark planet.

Starfield Is off to a Flying Start on Steam and Twitch

Perhaps to the surprise of absolutely no one, Starfield is off to a fantastic start on Steam and Twitch, despite the fact that not everyone gets to play Bethesda‘s new sci-fi RPG yet.

Thousands playing so far

A number of statistics show just how popular Starfield is since launching for Premium Edition buyers today. According to SteamDB (a third-party website that chronicles all things related to Steam), there are 141,427 people in-game, at the time of writing.

Likewise, Twitch figures from SullyGnome (as spotted by Eurogamer) show that 3,577,958 hours have been watched for the game. The website also shows that more than 2,300 users are currently broadcasting Starfield. These numbers are consistently changing but are accurate as of this article going live.

Reviews for the game have been coming in thick and fast, and owners of the Premium Edition have evidently been keen to dive right on into Bethesda’s brand-new release.

For the rest of us, we’ll need to wait just a little bit longer before we get to play. But given these statistics so far, we can easily expect numbers to skyrocket in less than a week’s time.

It’s fair to say that most people were expecting Starfield to be as popular as it was hyped up to be. However, the fact that (according to SteamDB) there’s already been a peak of 234,502 concurrent players on PC in the last 24 hours really hammers home just how immense the game is already.

Who knows just how big it’s going to get, but the fact that the modding community has already started releasing mods for Starfield is a sign of things to come.

Starfield releases fully on September 6 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass.
