Starfield Direct and Xbox Games Showcase Now a Double Feature After E3 Canceled

Shortly after E3 was officially canceled, Aaron Greenberg (VP of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft) announced that Starfield Direct and Xbox Games Showcase would now be a double feature. We’re unsure if this was related to E3’s cancellation, but it’s good news for Xbox fans as they can watch everything in one sitting.

Starfield Direct and Xbox Games Showcase will take place at the same time

Starfield Direct and Xbox Games Showcase were already announced to take place on June 11, but this announcement means that they will be part of the same show. Previously, both shows would take place separately on the date.

Starfield’s release date was recently pushed back to September 6, 2023, so we expect Starfield Direct to reveal more details about the upcoming game. The last gameplay reveal was June 12, 2022, so we will hopefully see much more about what we can expect from the game.

Little is known about what we’ll see in the Xbox Games Showcase. Fable 4 could be revealed in more detail, and Gears of War 6 is rumored to be in development. However, there is no indication from Microsoft about what we can expect from the showcase.

Back in February, Microsoft announced it would not take part in E3 2023 (via IGN) but would time its showcase to roughly coincide with E3 if it was to go ahead.
