Nintendo Announces Release Dates for Smash Bros. Wii U, Captain Toad

The Big N decided to dump a whole lot of news on gamers this morning, announcing release dates for Wii U's two big fall exclusives, as well as sales figures for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

As previously rumored, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will launch on November 21, which is also the same day the first wave of amiibo figures will be available for purchase. Meanwhile, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is set to hit store shelves on December 5. Just yesterday, there was reason to believe the latter game had been pushed to 2015, so news of its December release should be a huge relief for Wii U owners hungry for something to play this holiday season.

As far as Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo's handheld is concerned, the portable title has done incredibly well since its release beyond Japan, selling over 2.8 million units worldwide thus far. Let's also not forget that the game sold over one million units in Japan during its opening weekend. Yeah, gamers sure do love their Smash!

And as if that wasn't already enough Nintendo news for you, the Big N has also confirmed that the GameCube controller adapter for Wii U will support the beloved wireless WaveBird controller. Man, I really wish I held onto mine!
