While many would argue that Super Nintendo was the high point in Nintendo's long-running console history, I still have a lot of love for its successor, Nintendo 64, which turned 18 years old this week.
Some of the Big N's most influential games launched on its third traditional home console, not the least of which include genre-revolutionizing titles like Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Goldeneye 007.
While a number of the console's games don't hold up particularly well today, at the time, they were mind-blowing, as three-dimensional gaming was just getting its start. I'll never forget exploring the castle in Super Mario 64 for the first time or riding on Epona in the vast field of Hyrule in Ocarina of Time.
