Minecraft on Xbox One Gets a Release Date

Minecraft, the hit world-building indie game dreamed up by visionary Markus "Notch" Persson, launches on Xbox One this Friday, September 5th.

It's formally titled Minecraft: Xbox One Edition and will retail for $19.99. However, those who already own the Xbox 360 version only have to shell out $4.99 to upgrade to the Xbox One version. This "new-gen" version of the game allows for the creation of worlds 36 times larger than its last-gen counterpart, so there's definitely a big incentive to upgrade.

There's still no word on exactly when the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita versions will be ready, but one would assume that they aren't too far off.
