Sierra Returns With King’s Quest and Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions

During gamescom, Sierra has revealed what that icy teaser trailer was about (reposted above) and will be focusing on independent studios who will develop new IPs and reboots for several Sierra classics, including King's Quest slated for 2015 and a new Geometry Wars by this holiday season.

The Odd Gentlemen, known for The Misadventures of PB Winterbottom, will be responsible for bringing King's Quest into modern times with a new adventure and art style. The story will follow King Graham who retells his personal adventures to Gwendolyn, his granddaughter.

Sierra will be transitioning from a game studio to a publisher who will support indie studios with PR, marketing, and digital/retail distribution. Bob Loya, Senior Director of External Development, will be extending Sierra's services:

Sierra’s goal is to find and work with talented indie developers working on their own amazing projects, or passionate about working on great Sierra IP, and leverage our expertise to aid them in bring these fun and exciting experiences to gamers with the level of visibility and awareness they deserve. In addition to Lucid Games and The Odd Gentlemen, we’re in talks with a large number of other indie devs, and can’t wait to share more details with fans in the near future.

Lucid Games will be launching Geometry Wars3: Dimensions with 3D action and both cooperative and competitive multipalyer. The single-player campaign will have 50 unique challenges and add five new battle modes, bringing the total to ten.
