Capcom Wrong About Why Ultimate MvC3 Doesn’t Have Mega Man

After the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 roster was partially leaked, Capcom producer Ryota Niitsuma spoke to Siliconera not only to confirm the leak, but to explain why Mega Man is not in the game despite fan requests:

I’m sorry, there is no Mega Man in Ultimate. We had a lot of requests from fans for Mega Man or at least one of them to be in the game. Out of all of the requests we got for Capcom characters, he just didn’t enter the top part of the ranking. Unfortunately, he didn’t make the cut.

Some digging, however, on Capcom's own Capcom-Unity blog, reveals that this just isn't the case. A mod named Zonic on their forums posted the following poll results (on the Capcom side) of who fans would like to see in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as DLC (click image to enlarge):

Near the bottom of the thread, the mod admits that this survey isn't endorsed by Capcom in a disclaimer, but in an update, Zonic mentions that the results were noticed by Capcom's Sven:

So either Producer Niitsuma just didn't know about these poll results or he simply ignored them. Either way, Capcom is trying to act as if it's the lack of fan support that Mega Man isn't in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, despite the fact that it has a stage completely dedicated to (say it with me) Mega Man Legends.

Capcom needs to be more careful about what they say, or they just might find out that they're right about, well, a lack of fan support.
