Square Enix Late to the Party, Shuts Down Final Fantasy Type-0 Translation Patch

Remember Final Fantasy Type-0, that great PSP game that was never released outside of Japan? Some hard-working fans translated the game and released an English patch, giving importers another language option. Today, Square Enix has ordered the translation team to stop hosting the patch. The company will say it could cause financial damage, but let's be honest here: these fans kind of embarrassed Square Enix.

The patch creators' official website reads:

Unfortunately I’m forced to remove my posts and pages related to the popular Final Fantasy Type-0 fan translation project. That’s right, certain game company thinks that threats and false accusations are the way to treat its biggest fans. For the time being I can’t answer questions related to this matter, but I’ll write a more comprehensive post about all this once I get the chance.

The funny thing about this, of course, is that the patch has already had quite a bit of time out in the wild. Anyone who wants it can easily get it. But then again, Square Enix has been ignoring Final Fantasy Type-0 for quite some time. I suppose it's no surprise it would be, like it is with a lot of things related to Final Fantasy, the last one to realize certain things.

Final Fantasy Type-0 will be given an HD visual upgrade and ported to Xbox One and PS4 at a yet-unannounced time in the future.

Allegedly.

Please be excited.
