After being delayed during the console’s launch, the Steam Deck Dock accessory is finally available for purchase off Steam’s official website. Priced at $89.99, the Steam Deck docking station can be bought now with an estimated delivery time of one to two weeks. The purchase page originally noted that there was limited availability for orders from October to December 2022, but it has since been replaced with a “Buy now!” button. Either way, it’s probably better to get your order for the dock in sooner than later.
Steam Deck Dock Features Seven Ports
The official dock comes with multiple ports that will make it easy to find a compatible device for the console: one DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI 2.0, one gigabit ethernet, three USB-A 3.1 Gen 1, and one USB-C used to connect to your Steam Deck. The dock’s primary function is to charge the console and to connect it to an external display device like a television or monitor, though it won’t add any additional power or “additional performance benefits” to the device, according to the FAQ.
The dock supports “a wide range” of peripherals, but there’s a chance that your particular display isn’t compatible; in which case, Valve recommends that you provide information on your setup in the Steam discussion forum. Valve also acknowledges a visual noise bug when the Docking Station is plugged into some LG displays. The dock will have firmware updates for ongoing support and improvements.
Valve states that you can still use a third-party dock for the Steam Deck, while Steam Deck production has increased since September.
