Neil Gaiman’s Wayward Manor Slated for July Release

It was about this time last year that it was announced Neil Gaiman would be delving into the world of video games. Gaiman, best known for his acclaimed works such as The Graveyard Book, American Gods, and the source for the 2009 film Coraline, announced he would be partnering with The Odd Gentlemen for an upcoming PC/Mac game called Wayward Manor, involving restless spirits trying to evict a new couple in their home.

This weekend, Gaiman announced that the game would be released July 15th, via the game's website, whohauntsneil.com. The website also did something a bit unique in its announcement, giving another option to those who would like to purchase the game:

Wayward Manor will be released on July 15th. The game will be available on Steam for PC and Mac. If you haven't yet preordered the title, buy it on The Humble Store, where 10% of the proceeds go to charity.

The game, branded on Steam as a puzzle/adventure game, takes players back to the 1920's in a

Beetlejuice-like plot, minus Michael Keaton: The Budds have moved into Wayward Manor, unaware that, despite being ghosts, the Manor is still your humble abode. In order to reclaim what's rightfully yours, you'll have to drive the Budds mad with fear, utilizing their very own possessions in each room.

If nothing else, with the creativity of Gaiman behind it, Wayward Manor sounds like it'll be (if you'll pardon the pun) an absolute scream.
