Next-Gen Gears of War Still Being Prototyped

Microsoft and Black Tusk Studios are developing the next installment in the Gears of War franchise, formerly of Epic Games, but we had hoped the company would show a teaser trailer of some kind at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles next month.

E3 usually features lots of exciting new game announcements and Microsoft's aggressive push for major, blockbuster games should prove enticing for consumers watching at home. Most of our Microsoft E3 predictions were focused on the company's licenses and potential for big changes, but we didn't expect some of them to come true this early.

Still, we had hoped that Microsoft would show a Gears of War teaser trailer at E3 but with the game in early development, we're not sure if that'll happen. IGN reportedly captured the image above from a Black Tusk Rod-cast today where studio manager Rod Fergusson answered fan questions and shared this blurry piece of concept art.

That isn't the teaser we had in mind, but the potential for a prerendered and painfully short clip debuted on-stage at Microsoft's E3 press conference isn't out of the question.

We'll be at E3 this year with plenty of hands-on preview coverage, reporting live from the press conferences, and more. Stick with GameRevolution for all your coverage from LA next month.
