SimCity Gets Offline Mode Support Today

Electronic Arts and Maxis have announced that SimCity can now be played offline thanks to a new update that is rolling out today.

"We’ve listened to our players and today we are delivering against their most direct feedback with the release of the new Single-Player Mode," Maxis GM Patrick Buechner said. "Player feedback has helped us deliver 10 major gameplay Updates that have improved the experience with better tuning, new features and free content. This is the most definitive SimCity experience whether you choose to play Online or Offline."

Ever since the game suffered a rough launch back in 2013 thanks to some pesky DRM-based online issues, there's been a dark cloud hanging over the latest entry in EA's popular simulation franchise. Hopefully this "better late than never" offline mode will repair some of the damage its shoddy release inflicted upon excited fans last year.
