Say Hello to Cortana, Microsoft’s Siri Equivalent [Update: Video]

[Update] Video footage of Cortana in action has made its way onto the web. Give it a look below.

[Original] As previously rumored, Microsoft has an answer to Apple's Siri service. It's currently called Cortana and will be included in the Windows 8.1 update for mobile devices.

The Verge reports that this new "personal digital assistant" will replace the current Bing search option and will "take the form of a circular animated icon instead of a female character." Aw, shucks!

Here's a look at the program, courtesy of the aforementioned outlet.

Whether or not the company will use the Cortana name in the final software build remains to be seen. I for one really like the idea of Microsoft expanding the Halo universe into all aspects of its software. What do you think? Is it time to Xbox fans to consider shelling out for a Microsoft Phone?
