Bungie Fans Get Really Emo Over Bags o’ Swag

I don't think any of us are strangers to the annoying tendencies of online gaming communities, especially among Halo players. But really, these emo kids ought to find something more important to get worked up over.

Bungie was selling "bags o' swag" on Amazon for their 20th anniversary, and all proceeds went to charity. Nice gesture, right? Surely selfishness would not intrude upon an otherwise feel-good story. Wait, no, nevermind, it did.

The $30 bags sold out lightning-fast, with rabid fans (who had no idea what was even in them, by the way) jumping all over it to the point where Amazon was temporarily DDOS'd. And since there were only a little less than 800 total bags, a lot of them were not able to purchase it.

And then they proceeded to whine about it, using such dramatic wording such as calling it an "act of betrayal" and that they've lost respect for the developer. The standout comment from a user named SuperPokenerd on the Bungie forums:

“Today, bungie showed a blatant disregard for its fans and community. I could care less if this was for charity or for profit (i don’t believe in charity andyway) and I’m utterly disgusted at bungie if they think what they did today was ok.”

Well, at least he's honest about his selfishness. Still, if I ever run a successful company I'll hopefully remember this bullshit before I try to do anything nice for anyone.
