[Update: Sega Debunks] Rumor: Next-Gen Sonic Coming to PS4, Xbox One, Wii U in 2015

[Update] A Sega spokesperson cleared up the rumor with Eurogamer, claiming that the leaked poster is in fact false. The provided statement is as follows:

Sega is yet to announce details of upcoming console video games for Sonic the Hedgehog or further details regarding the new Sonic CG TV series. The recent information coming out of Nuremburg Toy Fair was incorrect.

So there you have it. Perhaps Nintendo fans will still be getting that third exclusive Sonic game after all.

[Original] A new Sonic title is currently in the works for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Wii U, according to a poster that was discovered at the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

The title is listed for release sometime in 2015, which means the game is still very early in development.

That said, it calls into question the current state of the final Nintendo-exclusive Sonic title that was supposed to be part of the company's three-game deal with Sega. Could one still be coming? Could Wii U's poor performance have caused a change in plans?

Are you ready for next-gen Sonic? What direction would you like to see Sega take the franchise?
